Rounding out our top 13 list is the horror-juggernaut, Nightmare of 13th. For just about 30 years, Nightmare on 13th has been dishing out horror to fans in a MASSIVE scale. They are always changing things up with new theming and attractions to keep people coming back every year.
They seem to be the kings and queens on the animatronic. While their actors are awesome- they’re larger than life MACHINES are intense, imposing and impressive.
Commune with the Old Gods
The main theme for Nightmare on 13th this year is the wacky horror spectacle that is Cthulhu! The Old One has awakened and will bend the minds of anyone who foolishly walks into his domain… so that’s you. Enter Cthulhu’s domain, try to escape with your sanity and you might even come face-to-face with the tentacle monster himself.
A Dark Labyrinth + Skeletons
The other two themes are a dark mine and an ossuary that will host their own creatures mad at you for trespassing on their grounds and attempting to steal from them. The undead, goblins and ghouls will be at every turn, wishing to separate your skin from bone and wear it like a nice hat.
Area 13: The X-Scream Experience
Area 13 is the theme for Nightmare on 13th’s X-Scream attraction, which they bill as their darker, scarier and more intense haunted house. This year seems to have an alien theme to it, which is something we applaud and are excited for. Alien and sci-fi is WAY easier said than done. It’s easy to make it campy and lame, but it looks like Nightmare nailed it this year.
X-Scream is more intense in that you might be touched during your time, but not removed from your group.
